Is Astrology a True Science?

Learning your horoscope can have a tendency to freeze or weaken your willpower and paralyze you with its inaccurate messages. Karma rules the brainless stars and your fate. We are not made in the image of astrology; we are made in the image of God.

Is astrology a true science? Yes it is, but there are few scientists who understand it. You have to be a pretty highly advanced being to be able to tell the karma of a person and his future. And you can make tremendous karma when you influence a person to believe things that you believe to be true, for if you are an astrologer, for every mistake you have made in your astrological chart you are going to take that karma of the individual. This is not a simple business, so if you consider yourself to be an astrologer, start to consider what you are saying as one astrologer told a friend, "you will be dead in ten years". Can you imagine a mistake like that? If you tell people that all kinds of terrible things are going to happen to them, it will happen because none of us are positive enough or fearless enough to reject negative ideas or suggestions. We are afraid of the unknown and when someone begins talking about the unknown cautioning us, we are afraid.

You must understand that our whole galaxy or present universe is moving at incredible speeds. Therefore, how are you going to find out the exact planetary conjunctions of a child at birth? Only a master can through his intuition. You see if you are off more than a few seconds you can not have an absolute exact condition. Masters use their intuition and wisdom to recapture the moment.

Spiritualizing astrology is a very complex subject. If your body is very strong and your mind is powerful, and certain destructive vibrations radiate from the stars due to past karmic blueprints in your subconscious mind, and they begin to shed their rays upon you, there will be no reaction at all because you will be impervious to their rays, your shield is strong. How do you develop this shield? Suppose your body and mind are weak at that particular moment and your biorhythms are low and your immunity is weak due to certain transgressions such as wrong eating, lack of exercise and sexual abuse. What will happen? The cosmic rays will have great power to affect you.

There are certain outward protections, such as astrological bangles that have a specific weight, consisting of three metals combined in a pure form of silver, gold and copper. Certain sizes of diamonds can also be effective. Unfortunately, if you are not spiritually strong the radiation will start affecting you in a destructive way when using large stones as a shield. If you are spiritual, you will absorb the radiation and the magnetic shield will protect you. The whole idea is that if you do not protect yourself constantly when you are healthy those karmic laws begin to come to collect bills. Children should learn these laws to be able to take care of themselves. You must reprogram the computer of your subconscious mind with strong positive affirmations.

Astrology is a scientific study of the astronomical influences which comes at certain periods of your life according to the planetary conjunctions of certain planets and time specific magnetic fields, attraction and repulsion. And you are born at the very specific time where specific conjunctions are there and which guide your entire life if you do not control your destiny by willpower.

How can you control your destiny? Take Nostradamus, who with great accuracy could see four hundred years into the future happenings of the world. He predicted the colossal draught which is happening in parts of the world today and all the starvation in Africa. You see, the future is already made, the movie is finished. It is all there on the big screen of this cosmic drama. But you can change your destiny. Fate means that you make absolutely no effort to stop all kinds of things from happening to you. You let yourself sink into the misery of the experiences of life because the moment you suffer physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, you start fighting like a wild animal; then you begin to remember who you are. The soul does not evolve, it must be reawakened. The quicker you learn how to control your destiny the less suffering you will have. Now our greatest minds of the day can still not understand what the masters are telling us. When is a human being a human being? At one second the moment the spermatozoon fuses with the ovum of the mother there is a huge flash of light in the astral world and the soul goes into that vehicle of light and enters at the base of the spine into the body of the mother. And it is only because the soul is there that the body can develop. It is the intelligence of the soul that develops the body. If only people would listen to the masters and remove their pride there would be less confusion.

As long as you question whether or not you will win or lose your battles in life, you will keep on losing. Don't stand still and don't go backward. Most people are engaged in a tug of war or are stationary. Your will power will determine what you are going to do, not your karma, not your horoscope, not your bad habits.

PART II continues.

Learning More About Astrology Birth Charts

I get confused whenever I am asked what my birth sign is, and you will understand my dilemma when I explain you. If you follow the western horoscope, then I was born under the Capricorn sign, but the oriental astrology birth chart had other ideas, it said I was born under the sign of the snake.

And my confusion was further compounded by the lack of similarities in the characteristics of people born under these astrology birth charts. This made me throw in the towel concerning what the future hold for me.

However, this did not prevent me from taking occasional peek at the horoscope section of newspapers, and I will marvel at the accuracy of the people behind this thing. It so happen that anything they say will happen, had in fact happened, and conversely the things they foretold had occurred.

The dilemma I face this time is how to determine which among my oriental and occidental astrology birth chart predictions will come to pass. This is because the characteristics mentioned were direct opposites and the prophecies as I prefer to call them, are very much the same.

To avert further confusion, I finally had both astrology birth charts drawn up so that I can decipher some useful tips from them.

The reason I adopted this approach was that despite the wide gulf between both signs, there might still be a small element of similarity in both astrology birth charts because of my identical time of birth, the date, place, and the location.

Again I found out that I got it totally wrong. What I failed to factor into my decision was the fact that both civilizations formed their astrology birth chart on the celestial chart depending on how each region sees it.

Thus I was viewed through the milky way by the western astrology birth chart, the oriental(read Chinese) sees it from a completely different perspective. My spirit has been dealt a fatal blow by this conflicting astrology birth charts.

Then I found out a solution to the whole logjam; I started telling whoever cares to listen that it will amount to outright foolishness to believe that the alignment and position of the stars or an astrology birth chart can collude to determine people's fate or destiny.

And since I made this decision, though my life has not improved much and did not take a tumble either, but my peace of mind is at least assured. I have practically lost faith in the all the noise about predicting the future, rather the slogan what will be will be has now become my article of faith.

While in current times astrology is seen as unaccustomed age also not as credible as sciences like astrophysics or chemistry, at one interval incarnate was because credible a science as detail single. If you are seeking guidance in your life, join me and the millions of other people who have found extremely helpful information through astrology.

So how does astrology work?

There is a range of different types of astrology around the world, and each variety entails different systems of interpretation but at a fundamental level they share a basic framework and philosophy. In Western cultures, you will find what is known as traditional or classic astrology, which draws its signs and meanings from the Zodiac birth chart.

As a form of ancient knowledge, classical astrology bases its wisdom and divining force around the position and movements of 8 planets in our solar system. Moreover it links the movements of the planets and the orbits of the sun and the moon to the date and time of your birth. Depending on the cosmos and the time of your birth, classical astrology reveals what characteristics make up your personality, as well as predicts events in your future. Astrology is a very complex and sophisticated art, in which every planet, the sun and moon signs as well as the relationship and angle of the planets has a distinct meaning that allows astrologers to reflect on the past as well as look into the unfolding realities of the future.

Fundamentals of Astrology

Despite the different types of astrology, it is clear that astrologers agree on certain principles. For instance, the moons gravity is a key factor that is an undeniable force upon the earth, causing the tides here on planet earth. Humans too are composed largely of water, so the gravitational pull of the moon impacts greatly on our own mental and physical state. Moreover each planet has a gravitational pull on the other, as well as the earth again and also on us as humans. Whatever the skeptics may say, the movements of the planets have an enormous impact on human beings. This alone vindicates the astrological way of trying to predict our behavior and personalities based upon what we know the planets will do in their cycles of motion. As creatures we are intrinsically sensitive to the movements of the cosmos above our heads.

Scientists and astrologers agree that the positions of the planets can be predicted with an amazingly high level of accuracy. Indeed since the dawn of time, humans have been observing and recording the cycles and movements of the planets. Ask any scientist and astrologer and they will tell you that the planet positions have a close correlation to the behavioral patterns of humans. In fact, many believe that personality and the planet positions are in fact synonymous. Therefore it is not uncommon to hear people suffering the blues say ?I?m feeling down today as my planets are out of line.? Or when there is a full moon it is not rare to see people act somewhat different to their everyday personas. In fact, the word ?lunatic? derives from the word ?lunar? ? meaning the moon - and came about because of erratic behavior observed during the full moon.

Many believe that astrology can truly help you to change the course of your life. Try discovering it yourself today, as understanding the connection between the earth and the sky can truly affect you.

Jyotisha, the Vedic Astrology of India

Most of us are familiar with the Western system of Astrology that utilizes the planets of our Solar System and the twelve signs, or constellations -Aries, Taurus, Etc. The universe, including the solar system is constantly moving, with planets moving from one constellation to another, or changing signs. Believers in Astrology feel that each planet influences a particular aspect of life- Venus for love, Jupiter for money, etc. Furthermore, the sign/constellation in which the planet is located on a person's date and time of birth has an impact on how that person would act and react: for example, a person with Venus in Aries is said to be impulsive in love, as compared to a person with Venus in conservative Capricorn, who may be status conscious and a bit cold. The angles that the planets in a person's Astrological Chart make relative to their location have a further impact on the person's character and makeup.

Jyotisha is the Hindu system of astrology. It is used primarily in India. The word derives from jy?tis disjointed as "Ja"+"Ya"+"O"+"T"+"ish" to get the root meaning as "water or birth"+"in addition to" + "earth" and "stars" + "knowledgeable"-in other words, a person who is knowledgeable about birth in relation to the earth and stars. Whereas in Western Astrology it is believed that the gravitational fields and electro-magnetic forces of the planetary bodies are acting upon the individual, in Vedic Astrology, the planets themselves are "grahas", forces that seize or act upon people and influence their actions and life. Since Hindus believe in reincarnation, so there is the corresponding belief that humans have ups and downs in life because of karma, or debts from actions in past lives. Jyotish Astrology is used by many to understand the challenges in life due to the influence of planets, i.e., Navagraha and perform religious ceremonies to mitigate the bad karma. Another difference between the two systems is that the common system used in the West is based on the Tropical Zodiac, whereas Vedic Astrology is based on the Sidereal Zodiac.

Navagraha loosely means "nine planets". The North Node and South Node of the Moon, known to Vedic Astrologers as Rahu and Ketu and the Sun and Moon are included in this group, and Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, the "modern planets" are excluded, probably because they were not visible to the naked eye of the ancient astronomers. The religious ceremonies most often include the use of a Yantra as a meditation tool. a Yantra is a picture, a symbolic representation of aspects of divinity. It is an interlocking matrix of geometric figures, circles, triangles and floral patterns that form fractal patterns of elegance and beauty. I have seen other symbols on Yantras as well, such as pictures or writing in Sanskrit. There are Yantras for each planetary body and for specific uses, such as attracting wealth, attracting love, preventing accidents, etc. Even though I am not Hindu, after a bad fall that left my arm permanently injured, I installed a Yantra in the corner of a room. There have been no more serious accidents in my home since its installation!

Today, Vedic Astrology is still commonly used in India to help make important decisions. In Hindu culture, newborns are traditionally named based on their jyotish charts, and jyotish concepts are pervasive in the organization of the calendar and holidays as well as in many areas of life and science. Astrology is vital to decisions made about marriage, opening a new business, and moving into a new home.

Astrology is What You Bring to It

Have you ever wondered why so many people can look at the same thing and see it differently? Preconceptions about life, attitudes developed over a period of years, and one's own past experiences make for the differences we see in life.

Yet, are not some things so obvious that everybody sees them the same way? No. You might think things are obvious, like a bus passing down the street. However, every person looking at it will see something different.

One person will see the bus and measure it against their memory, trying to remember if it fits their conception of what a bus should look like. Another person makes judgments on whether the bus is moving too slow or too fast. Yet, another thinks there are too many people on the bus, while still another thinks the people on the bus are not dressed well enough.

The point is, what seems to be an obvious occurrence can be experienced in so many different ways, that it is almost impossible to get a consensus of opinion as to an objective perception.

Nowhere is this more important than in Astrology, for without objectivity, the reading of an astrology chart is impossible. It is too easy to make hasty decisions about what planetary aspects or placements mean, in relation to their karmic role in the chart.

People born with similar chart placements (particularly in outer planets, since they move so slowly) may look the same on a chart to the inexperienced person, but the fact is, they have different karmas to fulfill, each and every one of them is a soul with past life lessons to learn and fulfill in the current incarnation.

A good example of this, is the Moon's Nodes which spend approximately 19 months traversing a sign. Do you know how many people are born with the same Nodes during that time? Enough for you to realize that they cannot all possibly have the same karma to fulfill in this life.

Maybe a good way to realize this, is that the same clothes appear different on different people. The ability then to see a chart correctly for what it is, involves a lot more than we give it credit for.

Not only must you be completely objective (a state which is difficult to obtain), but you must have the experience to know what it is that you are seeing in a chart, without injecting your own personal conceptions into it.

Unfortunately, this is where some of the occult sciences have gotten a bad name. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. People are very complex beings. They have their karma and within that they have issues and lessons and problems that they are dealing with and avoiding all the time.

To really understand astrology has much to do with what you bring to it. If you spend years studying people, studying life, trying to be as objective as you can, yet trying to see the reasons for things, then maybe astrology holds a lot for you.

But, never be hasty to judgment. Answers to life questions, qualify themselves in time. What seems like the only truth today, changes tomorrow as you understand things better, for all life is the unfolding of karma, with each lesson learned making way for new lessons to begin.

There was a man who went to a guru and asked him.

"Master tell me what to study."

The guru thought for a moment, then stared at the man and said.

"Study yourself, then come back to me in thirty years and I will tell you what to do next."

The man quietly left and for the next thirty years of his life, he spent every waking hour following the guru's instructions. He studied himself in every way he possibly could. He studied his physical self, his astral self, his spiritual self. He studied his actions and reactions to everything and everyone. As the years went by he felt he really was starting to understand himself.

When the thirty years had passed, he went back to the guru, anxious to receive his next instruction.

The guru looked at him for some time quietly, then seeing how much he had studied himself, he said,

"Now that you have followed my instruction to you so well. I am going to give you your next instruction. Go back and study yourself!"

This is the way of astrology, for as the planets move, and the aspects change, your karma is slowly revealed to you, making your never-ending study grow more fascinating, for in the end, what you get from astrology will be the awakening you have brought to it.

For a deeper understanding of the North and South Nodes in your own chart, you might want to take a look at Karmic Astrology vol.1- The Moon's Nodes and Reincarnation, by this author.

Astrology, History And Man

Astrology has played a role in history throughout the ages as man has accepted its theories and over time, discarding it at times and re-inventing it with passion and attraction other times.

Astrology is thought of by many as a reflection of Man's existence in the universe. The general concept behind astrology is that all living beings or organisms are governed by forces and regular occurring patterns of recognizable energy.

Nature's law relates the macro to the micro in that every living organism from the simplest form of life embodies a higher more complex form where the micro form is but only a reflection of the macro whole.

Man's recorded history relieves startling evidence that astrology has been a voice that serves and acts within everyone. History has mapped man's journey throughout the many changes from the most basic and instinctive forms of life through to the progress, development and advancement of our senses, the structure of the brain and the connection of higher consciousness via our minds.

Man's evolution and destiny depends on each unfolding in its proper place.

The seven major energy centers of vital importance within the physiology of the human body are referred to as chakras and they are aligned from the seventh center at the tip of the head all the way to the base of the spinal chord where the first center is located.

The other five chakras that follow include the third eye, the throat, the heart center, solar plexus and the reproductive organs.

There exists a system that few outside the astrological and metaphysical world that understand the relationship and interconnectedness of these seven centers with the seven endocrine glands of the human body, the seven planets of the solar system and human behavior.

It is through this understanding of the inner workings of these systematical interrelationships that is most basic to the alignment between how planet movements, cycles and human nature that allows us to better understand why astrology is such an art form.

As the greater macro organism the solar system expresses itself through the seven major planets (not nine) and lives within the creation of yet a greater whole in the image of it's creator in which it reflects.

So once we understand that our solar system is still part of wider system, part of this grander cosmic plan which consists of seven solar systems with the sun as its center as the heart is to the body. The life of the Cosmic Being governs the seven stars of the constellation of the Great Bear which in turn are the lifeline of the seven rays of the life force that reflect and flow through the whole solar system via the seven planets. This philosophy is the basis the entire science of astrology is built upon.

Each one of the seven rays expresses a related virtue of the force, the source, God which is a reflection through the heart representing the sun, the ray of love and wisdom. When the beat of the sun pulsates with energy of love and wisdom it expresses the quality of its existence, its consciousness.

Ones level of consciousness rules ones destiny within a greater plan and wisdom of the universe as a whole.

Virgo Zodiac Sign Astrology Characteristics and Personality

The Virgo Zodiac Sign is an astrological sign which is associated with the constellation Virgo. It is found under the tropical zodiac and is occupied by the sun from 23 August to 22 September each year. The opposite sign to Virgo is Pisces.

It is the sixth sign of the Zodiac and is associated with purity and service. Those individuals who are born under this sign are thought to be diligent, analytical, self-sufficient, controlled, orderly, modest and intellectual. But they are also prone to being fussy, a perfectionist, harsh with their criticism, can be cold towards others and may be hypocondriacs.

In terms of the body, Virgo is supposed to rule the abdominal region, both the large and small intestines as well as the spleen, solar plexus (a complex network of nerves to be found in the abdomen), the lower lobes of a persons liver, the pancreas, portal veins, umbilicus, hands, nails and finally carpal bones.

Traditionally the sign is thought to be ruled by the planet Mecury, but during the late 19th Century and early 20th Century it was speculated that the planet Vulcan (which is thought to be located near Mercury) is in fact its true planetary ruler. Currently the vast majority of astrologers still think of Mercury as the planetary ruler for this sign.

Physically those people who are born under the sign of Virgo tend to have a graceful figure, a roundish head, full and delicately shaped lips, perfect teeth, a clear complexion, large and clear eyes and are characterized by small, symmetrical and refined features. They also often have a high forehead, a thin nose as well as thin eyebrows and coarsely textured hair. Many people who were born under this sign are usually thought to be of slightly above average height. Of course there are just generalizations and the moon sign and ascendant signs are very important as well.

There is much more that you can discover about the Virgo Zodiac Sign by surfing around as well as observing people and their patterns.

Astrology In Real Life

I have a friend who is involved or rather she is associated with a man who finds women everywhere he goes. He finds mother substitutes, specifically and it's just uncanny. He finds these women? or they find him and they pretty form a line, waiting to meet this man's needs.

And there is nothing you can do about something like this outside of observe it? and people do. The women don't really compete. Instead they remark to each other? ?Look at how many mothers he has?? The man is in his 40's and anyway, I told her this story...

When my daughter was a baby? about 3 years old or so, she used to like to ride on those mechanical grocery store ponies. Around here, they cost a penny which I think it pretty cool. One cent and you can actually buy something worth having.

So one day, after paying for my groceries we headed over to the pony per our ritual and found the pony occupied. There was a little boy on the pony? dark haired, grinning and seriously over-fed. You know. This was a well-loved kid, if you know what I mean. A lot of people do this with their first baby, right? They spoil them. And this boy in particular was from a culture where boys are revered... girls not so much.

So anyway, this kid is on the pony and he's happy. And his mother is clapping for him? she enthusiastic about her son, to say the least. So they make quite a pair these two, and they the pony stops. Uh oh!

Kid starts screaming his head off. The mother looks at me and I keep a blank face. None of my business, right? She shrugs and puts another penny in the pony, making a point to focus on this little boy? her little prince, clapping and cooing and so forth. It's in her body language see. She turns slightly so my daughter and I and obliterated from her reality... some.

See, never mind my daughter and I are waiting? maybe our ice cream is melting, we are going to stand there and wait while these two have their? thing.

So the pony gallops and gallops and gallops and mother coos and coos and coos and the boy grins and beams and grins and then the pony stops.

No crying this time. He has his mother trained, or so it seems. Because all this kid has to do is look at her expectantly and next thing you know, she's got another penny and she's putting it in the pony and I couldn't believe it.

?This is ridiculous,? I said to my daughter. ?Something is wrong here. These people are never going to get off this pony. Sorry, babe but let's get out of here. You'll have to ride next time..."

The mother acted like she was so involved with her son she couldn't hear me even though I was standing 3 feet from her. She didn't so much as look over her shoulder. And my daughter is a sophisticated little chick, don't think she's not. And I actually think she could glean the situation. But anyway, here is my point:

Little boys with mothers like that, grow up and become like this man my friend knows. And they are so profoundly crippled. Because the pennies just keep coming. And this is what I mean, every blessing is a curse in exact proportion (and vice versa).

Because as far as I am concerned this man and that little boy on the pony are the same person. The forty year old boy does nothing but wait for various women to deliver whatever he needs? well bells on. And when one goes away, there are three more waiting. Actually, there are ten more waiting and this kind of ease is promised in a natal chart.

I guess this is why they say Saturn / Capricorn / difficulty builds character. Because if every time you put your hand out, someone fills it for you without a second of delay, you wind up something akin to an amoeba. You just don't form or become an adult.

Do you know any adults whose development is completely arrested like this? And how would you have handled the pony ride situation?

Astrology and Etiquette In the 21st Century

Last week I went out for coffee with a Libra Man. Libra is known for having good manners and it was the first time we?d gotten together. We?re both gym rats who pay attention; and we were trading notes on our impressions of things we see in the gym as well as how we felt about each other?

?And then one day I held the door for you,? he said. ?And you went by me and I thought, now that's something. I thought you had ?IT?.?

?Really?? I thought backwards as fast as I could. This door opening is a big deal to me. It's significant. I could almost remember this specific day. ?Well I like that. I like men to open the door for me. So I'm sure I was glad about it.?

?You must have been. Because you stood there and waited for me to get the next door, too.? He smiled.

?I did? Good. That sounds like me. But I would not have done that if you weren't the way you are. Super manly, I mean. Because do you know this door-opening? well men are no longer expected to open doors for women.?

He looked unconvinced.

?Seriously. I've written about this. Last year. Because this happens all the time at the gym. Men don't get the door. I think men should get the door, but others think differently and it turns out they're right. Because when I wrote about this, several people who teach etiquette showed up to say men opening doors for women is antiquated. It's over. People are supposed to get doors for people,? I said.

He looked unconvinced.

?I know. I don't like it. I teach my son (Libra Moon, Libra rising) to get the door. He's seven and I have him hold the elevator door until all the women are in, or out. And he's does it. He looks good doing it too, but he's like a throwback to some other era.?

?I would always get the door for you. For any woman."

?Well, thank you. And I would always let you. But I better know about this, because if you were a 23-year-old man and I stood waiting for you to get the door, I'd be standing there until I am blue. This is just not what they teach anymore. The professional manners people say otherwise. I don't really like men who don't get doors for women. It just seems wrong to me. It?s almost an affront when a man passes in front of a woman. I think it?s gross but I am just telling you this a day that?s gone by. We?re out of the loop. It's just not what is taught anymore and I have had to come to terms with this. But it sure made me feel good when you did that. You were classy, the way you did that. I have "IT"? I think you have "IT". Because I am telling you the men around here do not hold the door. It almost never happens and that day when you did... you held both doors, I liked it. It helped my day. It was as if something were right in the world."

?Well that's exactly how it felt to me. It sure made an impression on me, I'll tell you that. I have not forgotten it at all. It made me want to know you."

Should men hold doors for women, or should people hold doors for people? Even if you think people should hold doors for people, as a woman, do you like it when a man holds the door for you? And if you?re a man, do you like holding the door? Do you have Libra in your chart? How about Leo (loves chivalry)

Astrology Sign Compatibility - 2007 Astrology Forecast

Astrology Sign Compatibility - Can it really help to find the right partner? Will it help me connect to a mate?

Astrology Sign Compatibility is widely used as a way of indicating the compatibility between family, friends, bosses or lovers and those you would like to know more about. Each persons natal horoscope is compared to see how the 2 astrology charts interconnect and the way in which they will effect a relationship. They will show what parts of either persons personality will either hinder or help the relationship. Using astrology sign compatibility is a great way in dealing with other on all levels of your life.

However there is much more to it than just a simple comparison between the Sun signs. But whilst the Sun Signs is a very good place to start it is only the first of many factors which need to be considered in astrology sign compatibility. This is helpful for your 2007 astrology forecast.

The true art of astrological chart compatibility is both complex and fascinating as well as being maddeningly elusive. What should be remembered that each astrologer has their own pet theories regarding the subject of astrology sign compatibility and in some cases may be directly opposite to what another astrologers pet theories are with regard to this subject. This is why there may be different views on the 2007 astrology forecast.

Luckily for those of us who are interested to know about our astrological compatibility with another person that virtually every astrologer around the world has spent many hours of their time in order to understand the subject of compatibility.

There are certain questions you will asked with regard to astrology sign compatbility and these are as follows:-

1. Date of Birth

2. Place where you were born

3. The time at which you were born (this time determines the Ascendant/Descendant axis and house placements). So this is critical for the astrologer to know in order to determine your compatiblity with another person.

Over the last few years astrology sign compatibility has gained great popularity and as many astrologers will tell you that there is much more to it than just astrological compatibility but for many of them the sun sign comparisons is a good place for them to start from.

The Value of an Astrology Birth Chart

An Astrology birth chart is something meant for predicting your future. Whether you believe it or not, there is a grain of truth in all these talk about birth signs and horoscopes. I wasn't a believer until recently, when some strange events happened to show me that actually my horoscope has indeed predicted, to a great extent, the consequences that ensued!

I started to search for more information about astrology birth charts, and I soon became huddled with information. I also decided to make my personal astrology birth chart, just to take a look and see if things were similar. The astrology birth chart is done with the personal information about the time of birth, date, place and location of birth.

You can have your astrology birth chart drawn in a format that is easy to comprehend. Although each specific civilizations devised its own astrology birth chart based on the celestial chart as seen from that specific region, there is a lot of sense making things in European and Chinese birth charts. It just depends on the perspective you choose to look through. You can find a meaning in both astrology birth charts, and even gain some important information about yourself from analyzing them.

Astrology birth charts are different according to which astrology system they are related. Chinese and oriental charts bring different meaning, European charts have another hidden treasure for you. It just depends on your personal preference: you may believe in both of them, as long as you find something to learn from them, it doesn't matter whether you consider yourself a Leo or a Rat.

Astrology birth charts cannot tell you your precise future, but they can give you some advice and can show you deeper levels of your personality. By just reading them you can get insight about hidden characteristics in your soul, and can gain better understanding of yourself.

Astrology and Pheromones-Sex Appeal and Attractiveness: Venus and Mars In The Natal Chart

When it comes to attracting sex there seems to be two kinds of people. Everyone has heard of the guy who lacks for dates. He just can?t seem to find a women, right up until he marries! As soon as someone puts a ring on his finger, women show up in droves and this a story as old as time. The fact some woman wants this man, makes other women want this man.

Now I am in the opposite situation. When I am partnered, men take one look at me and seem to know I am unavailable. There are exceptions (like the Salesman) but they are few and far between. For the most part, men (and women) look at me and can tell there is nothing there. There is no void to fill so they take their eyes off me and continue to scan the room for someone who is ?open? or unfilled and unfulfilled.

But as soon as there is a void, LOOK OUT! My pheromones start to build up and it doesn?t take long. A week? Two weeks? Next thing I know I am crawling with prospects. Men, women, librarians of both sexes, small animals, you name it.

And at first it?s bad but then it gets worse and worse and worse and worse to where it becomes nearly intolerable to me and I just want to take a partner for my own relief and that of the collective!

So at first glance it seems women want to compete against each other for a man, where men are looking for an opening? any opening. In a gross sense, I mean. Don?t lecture me, because you know what I mean! But here?s the thing?

This rule does not hold! I know women who have an enormous problem attracting a partner for no reason that is tangible. Like the man with no ring on his finger, they just don?t have people interested in them sexually, up and until they hook-up at which point opportunities come out of the wood work. So why is this??

I have a theory! I have no idea if it is valid. I have not researched this at all. In fact I just thought of it right now because I have to think of something, right? I'm writing this.

And it occurs to me that perhaps it is an easy aspect between Venus and Mars in a chart that brings opportunities for love and sex when you need them while the hard aspects that bring scenarios that are jarring.

~~ When it comes to sex, are you a person who finds water when thirsty? Or are you someone who suffers periods of drought followed by periods where you have access to more water than you could or should drink?

And what is Mars doing to Venus in your chart? ;-)

Astrology and Driving

Here?s an interesting take on why some drivers have all the luck, or more appropriately, ?bad luck? on the road. InsuranceHotline.com, a Web site that gives auto insurance quotes, studied 100,000 North American drivers' records from the past six years and found that Libras, Aquarians and Aries are the worst overall signs when it comes to traffic offenses and accidents. Leo, Gemini and Cancer drivers were found to be the best overall.

Interesting? How about a complete ?astrological? driver?s profile? According to the website, here are the Astrological Signs that had the most influence over drivers, causing them to have the greatest number of tickets and accidents, from worst to best.

Number 1 Worst : Libra - Sept. 23 to Oct. 22 Libra is the "sign of the scales", it craves balance and consensus. Libra doesn?t like to make snap decisions. But rush hour traffic is not a time for seeking driver approval, or for being indecisive.

2nd Worst Position : Aquarius - Jan. 20 to Feb. 18 They?re impulsive, and ruled by the Planet of speed and rebellion. Aquarians need to get a better grip behind the wheel.

3rd Worst Position : Aries - Mar. 21 to Apr. 19 Its symbol is the ram. Not good a sign to have for avoiding accidents. Aries have a "me first" child-like nature, that drives Aries into trouble.

4th Worst Position : Pisces - Feb. 19 to Mar. 20 This sign enjoys daydreaming. So wake up Pisces, driving in the ?real world" requires your complete attention.

5th Worst Position : Scorpio - Oct. 23 to Nov. 21 The scorpion?s instinct is to get revenge, and driving is the perfect avenue to vent a little Scorpion road rage. If you pass a Scorpio, plan on being chased.

6th Worst Position : Taurus - Apr. 20 to May 20 The astrological sign for Taurus is the bull. They?re stubborn, and have an urge to charge at red lights.

7th Worst Position : Sagittarius - Nov. 22 to Dec. 21 They?re risk-takers, but they?re experienced risk takers, and know that stunt driving should be left to the professionals. This is a talkative group, and they should consider putting their cell phone down and just driving.

8th Worst Position : Capricorn - Dec. 22 to Jan. 19 Capricorn is goal oriented. They?re more concerned about the destination than the journey. They feel that the rules of the road are for other drivers to follow so that Capricorns can get to their destination faster.

9th Worst Position : Virgo - Aug. 23 to Sept. 22 Virgos have a nervous attention to detail. They made the cover of the Car Carma book. They?d be slamming their brakes on to avoid hitting a squirrel, but cause a 10 car pile-up.

3rd Best Position : Cancer - June 21 to July 22 They?re homebodies, and consider the roadway of drivers their extended family. But they?re a moody group, and would be the ones to honk at you for no reason at all.

2nd Best Position : Gemini - May 21 to June 20 Geminis are the original multi-taskers. They can eat, drink, read the newspaper, shave, or apply make-up all while driving, although this is NOT recommended, even if you're a Gemini. It?s the sign of the twins; while one is driving the other co-pilots.

Number 1 Best : Leo - Jul. 23 to Aug. 22 Leo is generous, and comfortable in sharing the roadway. They?re known for having a huge ego, which is their driving force to be the best.

?The results are overwhelming, showing drivers of certain astrological signs are prone to getting more tickets, while others seemed destined to have accidents", says Lee Romanov, president of InsuranceHotline.com and author of the book Car Carma.

And there you were thinking that the only thing you might have to be scared of driving next to the monstrous Hummer with the noisy driver in it is the possibility that at any given minute Hummer parts may come crashing into your little Accord in the event of an accident. Now you may also want to consider whether the driver is a hot-headed Aries or a cool Gemini.

Corey Putton is a 28-year old bachelor from Pittsburgh, PA who has been around cars for the better part of his life. He now works online and writes all about his passion: cars. He is also a certified mechanic. You can visit InsuranceHotline.com for more information.

What Do The Stars Predict For Your Future? Try Astrology To Find Out

If you like astrology, you'll be happy to get astrology readings both via the Internet and offline. For myself, I get a number of freebies every day by e-mail, and it's quite comical how they all vary! What can you expect though, given that they're not calculated using my own birth data - for which reason I see this kind of astrology only as a source of entertainment.

So, as a mere fun interest, naturally I'd never suggest basing any serious life decisions on something like astrology. I see it in terms of an oddity or curiosity, even if it does have some sort of impressive history in dating way back to Ancient Babylon. Regardless of what my newspaper horoscope tells me, I favour an approach of combined reason and intuition - unless of course I have some irrational but overwhelming feeling that I ought to purchase a lottery ticket, in which case it's only a small price to pay for being wrong.

To sum up: my own view of astrology readings that are based on your sun sign alone and nothing more personal are just a harmless piece of fun. If you want to go more in-depth, have a full birth chart calculated on the basis of your place of birth, date and time. (A chart can still be done without a precise time but it won't be as personal as one without.) This can give a detailed character analysis; in addition, if you want such extra services, you can check out your horoscope compatibility with your partner, which is technically known as synastry.

Naturally, having the full works done, allows your astrologer to make more personalized and specific future forecasts - although whether or not you choose to believe in their validity is another matter entirely. For myself, I simply enjoy the psychological aspects of chart analysis and how this can sometimes shed interesting light on a subject's character. I've never really been sure how much in life is fated or merely random; and I have to say that astrologers seem pretty much divided over this deep philosophical question too.

Whatever the truth of the matter, you might be interested in having some free astrology readings done from mere curiosity. There are sites which offer sample readings, possibly leading to a fuller, paid one if you're sufficiently interested. Although you may know your Western star sign, you may not know your Eastern or Vedic astrology sign, or indeed your Chinese astrology one. You might even like to sample them all to see which system describes you best. After all, it can be either free or very low-cost to try an astrology reading. www.HecatesArts.com offers a tempting selection for those curious about this ancient celestial art.

Jay Rich is the founder of http://www.hecatesarts.com/ which offers numerology, psychic, Tarot, and astrology readings, plus much more. Visit here to discover more about astrology signs and horoscope compatibility.

Does Astrology Work?

When I was a young artist living in Brooklyn, I had a car with no interior lining (it had been stolen for parts). I met a man from the Northwest. After dinner I drove him and our friends over the Manhattan Bridge in my car. He was enchanted by the experience, so different from his wide sky existence. We began a burning correspondence (before email or express mail) and after a few months I became convinced it was worth a flight to Oregon to see if the writer and the man were one and the same. Friends who were studying astrology poured over our horoscopes but did not discourage me. When I returned, let down and confused, they nodded sagely. They had been pretty sure it wasn?t going to work. Although I was initially annoyed they didn?t tell me, I did understand their reservations (they were only students at the time). I began to study astrology obsessively. I was determined to understand what they?d seen in a single geometric picture, the clues I?d missed in a shoebox full of letters.

How does astrology work? Long before IPods, TiVo, cell phones and computers, people would stare at the stars at night to try to fathom the larger world. Medical science confirms that meditation can relieve stress. Meditation is a method that connects us to the ?universal unconscious? as Carl Jung coined it; the vibratory plane of existence where we?re all connected. Long ago, people without electronic distractions were naturally meditating while doing repetitive tasks, relaxing or stargazing.

They took the time to study the spark of the Vernal Equinox and how it correlated with the constellation Aries, the beginning of the zodiacal belt. The myths they wove fit symbolically with the pattern of the seasons as well as the evolution of a person?s natural life. The Greeks liked mathematical order, so they carved up the twelve zodiacal signs into equal slices of 30 degrees to fit a 360 degree wheel (which is not how the constellations actually lie). Nonetheless, this methodical system creates a balance that has worked for astrologers for thousands of years. Compressing big concepts into geometry was a way of creating an order we can understand. It is an order we see everyday, where sacred geometric patterns echo throughout our natural world.

The ancients sat and contemplated the night sky, deriving stories and myths that resonate with us today, providing a psychic compass. One might speculate these impressions or archetypes were messages from God giving us signposts to help us cope. Regardless of the source, taking the time to decode the messages helps an astrologer understand how and why a person acts, thinks and feels. Astrology can show us how we relate to other people (and they to us); provide timing for events and the cycles of our lives.

I never intended to become a professional astrologer when I first studied astrology to try to comprehend my love-life. But I discovered a method to help me in all my relationships, especially the pivotal one, knowing myself.

At business networking events, when I tell people what I do, sometimes the response is: ?I don?t believe in astrology?. This reminds me when I was a freelance designer in the 80?s. Some of my colleagues were jumping to computers which I found limiting in aesthetic output! I might well have said, ?I don?t believe in computers? as I ignored the obvious advantages they possessed. Of course, I eventually found computers invaluable for both my work as an astrologer and an artist.

Astrology is not a belief system. Astrology is a tool that can help you. Like html, astrology is a language you can choose to learn for yourself. Or you can see an astrologer when you need insight, in the same way you can hire someone to make you a website if you don?t want to learn html. Astrology can help you make choices with your eyes open to potential outcomes. Years ago, had I been using astrology, I might still have gone to the Northwest, but not with the same expectations.

Sun Tzu's Art Of War & Chinese Astrology- Two Ancient Systems, One Timeless Goal: Part 2

A person?s destiny is further governed by the following factors;-

? Timing (to be born at the right time)
? Space (to stay at the right place)
? Action (to do the right things)

Timing refers to the time of birth when a person is infused with the energy of the universe or heaven?s luck which is one?s fate.

Space refers to the place of habitation or earth?s luck where the energy of the environment affects the inhabitants on earth.

Action refers to the cause and effects of one?s attitudes and actions or man luck

In ?The Art of War?, whether a battle ends in victory or defeat depends on the conditions of the landscape or environment surrounding the army. Aside from his destiny?s chart which is based on his timing of birth or heaven?s luck, a general will need to take cognizance of his space or landscape - the hills and the valleys, the rivers and the oceans, etc on the battlefield. In this context, the Chinese metaphysical science of Feng Shui plays an important part in ensuring victory. The precepts of this ancient art of geomancy stipulate that the energy in our environment can affect us positively or negatively depending on the location and direction of one?s living space. According to Feng Shui, the energy or life force known to the Chinese as ?Qi? is dispersed by the wind and gathers at the boundary of water.

In this respect, Sun Tzu advised;-

?Military tactics are like water. As water shapes its flow according to the ground, an army wins by relating to the enemy it faces and adapts to the conditions of the environment and modify his tactics according to the enemy?s situations.?

In the modern context, how we face adversities in life and whether we are successful in the pursuit of our goals and aspirations will depend on the conditions of our living space or environment and our attitudes and actions. Just like a general who fortified his fortress to make it impenetrable, how do we make our environment conducive to living a successful life? By tapping into the positive energy of the environment using Feng Shui of course!

As Sun Tzu advises;-

?It is a principle of war that we do not assume the enemy will not come, but instead be prepared for his coming, not to presume the enemy will not attack, but instead to make our own position invincible to ensure victory.?

By knowing our natal chart based on the four pillars of destiny and our luck cycle over the course of our life using the intrinsic luck pillars, we can use Feng Shui as a moderator to overcome anticipated challenges and at the same time, as an enabler to achieve our goals and purpose in life. Our house is a gateway for Qi to enter and collect. By positioning the front door of our house in the auspicious location and direction based on compass reading, we can tune into the positive energy of our environment for harmony and prosperity and avoid negative energy which brings misfortune and calamity. Depending on the facing direction of a house, it is generally auspicious to have a mountain or hill at the back of the house to act as support and a lake or water catchments area in front of the house for Qi to settle.

Apart from our destiny?s chart and Feng Shui, we can always rely on our own free will as well. When the going gets tough and life is but a struggle, our attitude and action will partly determine whether the battle is won or lost.

Here?s what Sun Tzu has to say;-

?We move where there is advantage to be gained; we halt when there is none. A wise general considers both the advantages and disadvantages at his disposal. When considering the advantages, he makes his plans viable; when considering the disadvantages, he finds a way to extricate himself from the pitfalls.?

When going through a luck pillar of prosperity, we shall make every opportunity count and when going through a luck pillar of despair, we keep a low profile and cut our losses.

The hallmark of a great general is best sum up by the man himself;-

?If you know yourself and know your enemy; in a hundred battles, you will not fear the outcome. When you know yourself but not your enemy, your chances of winning or losing is equal. If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you are sure to be in peril in every battle.?

Therefore, how do these systems of Chinese war strategies and metaphysical science help us in the reality of modern times? It teaches us to be empowered by knowing our strengths and weakness, to be energized by tapping into the energies of our environment and to be proactive in taking destiny into our own hands for the same goal ? victory!

Sun Tzu's Art of War & Chinese Astrology - Two Ancient Systems, One Timeless Goal: Part 1

How can the teaching of a military strategist and the Chinese Art of astrology intertwine?

When it comes to fundamentals and applications, both systems share similarities. Both are more than 2,500 years old but remain ageless in their relevancy to modern times. A military strategist like Sun Tzu advocates that one should always be prepared in battle as can be read from his brilliant mantra -

?Know yourself; know your enemy and your victory will be assured. Know heaven; know earth and your victory will be complete?

How does this relate to Chinese astrology? In one of the systems of Chinese astrology, a person?s fate is sealed at the time of birth in a set of pillars known as ?The Four Pillars of Destiny?. Accompanying these four pillars is a set of luck pillars which chart the course of a person?s life over 10 yearly intervals. Together, these pillars formed our destiny?s chart and by the reading of this chart, we can foretell what destiny awaits us in life and see in the same light as Sun Tzu?s Art of War, it can be said that ?to be forewarned is to be forearmed?.

According to ?The Art of War?, the five important virtues a general must have in order to be successful in battle are - Wisdom, Courage, Sincerity, Benevolence and Discipline.

Based on ?The Four Pillars of Destiny?, a person?s destiny is governed by five important elements i.e. Resource, Self, Output, Wealth and Influence.

The five virtues and five elements are mutually reinforcing as follows:-

Wisdom <> Resource
Courage <> Self
Sincerity <> Output
Benevolence <> Wealth
Discipline <> Influence

By wisdom, we mean that a general should employ his resource element which is his thoughts, intuition, knowledge and experience in devising his strategies. If his resource element is weak, he will not be able to plan wisely.

By courage, it is taken to mean that the general needs to be strong and brave in facing adversity. He has to show fortitude in overcoming challenges and obstacles in the battlefields. If his self element is weak, he leans towards cowardice and risk being captured.

By sincerity, it is perceived that the general should exhibit honesty in his communication and be able to convey his message incisively in a heartfelt and convincing manner. If his Output element is weak, he lacks persuasive prowess and will find it hard to gain the trust of his men.

By benevolence, the general is seen as generous with his wealth and willingly share his spoils of war with his men, care for them and appreciates their efforts and toil. If his wealth element is weak, his men will lose confidence in him and thus, feel demoralize to fight on.

By discipline, the general will have to exert his influence over his men through leadership by example. He will have to be strict with his men so that orders are consistently carried out and will not hesitate to punish if his reports fail in their duties. If his Influence element is weak, his men will not be loyal to him and may rebel against his control.

?So, are you destined to be a five star general? ? Stay connected for part 2.

Astrology - Do You Believe?

Whenever I think of astrology I think of the daily horoscope (or "horrible-scope" as my friend would call them) in the local paper. I enjoy reading them. Sometimes they seem like they're right on track, talking directly to me about something going on in my life, and other times, not so much. I see them as more like fun reading.

The practice of astrology is an ancient one that follows the movement of the sun and the moon and the position of the constellations in the sky. Astrology has been around for thousands of years. Astrologers believe that the positions and movements of the celestial bodies play a part in our personalities. The 12 sign zodiac was developed in 450 BC.

Many millions of dollars are made each year by practitioners of the art of astrology, especially as it is associated with love. We are each looking for our "soul mate" and many think that astrology is a way to help us find that person. It's true, each sign has personality traits, and some of the signs may seem more compatible than others. However, when I met the man who was to become my husband he wasn't in the two or three zodiac signs I was sure to be compatible with. I'm an Earth sign, he's a Water sign, gee, I would think together that we'd be mud!!

There are at least a billion people worldwide who place a lot of trust in astrology and astrologers. If you remember, Nancy Regan had a psychic advisor while First Lady. There are people who take astrology very seriously and people who won't leave their homes if the stars and planets aren't aligned favorably. There are some people who go to an astrologer for advice without doing any thinking for themselves first. A large downside to this is that some people get so used to the advice of an astrologer they seem to become unable or powerless to make any decisions on their own, giving their lives over to someone elses beliefs and values. It is said that some astrologers and psychics actually come to enjoy the hold they have over people and their lives.

Astrology can be fun, and it's history is fascinating. Since our beginnings man has always been in awe of the sky. However, don't let what you read control your life.

What If Astrology Really Worked

There is a large population which looks at todays forecast the first thing in the morning newspaper. Every one of them desires to find out about their day in the columns. Do the predictions come true? Let me talk about this. Most of the forecast columns have four to five predictions. Practically no body writes down all of them and compares the forecast with actual happening at the end of the day. What we do is to remember something of the forecast and if anything comes true, we are delighted. We forget that the other three to four forecasts did not come true.

That is human nature. We want to believe something and find ways to prove that right. This is what we do with forecasts. None of us wants to critically analyze them because we are subconsciously worried that they can prove to be largely false. We also like to hear about what good may happen. We are all tired with worries and anxieties that we want some assurance that things are not that bad and they will improve. Astrologers use that weakness very intelligently.

What if astrology really worked? What if every astrologer made absolutely correct predictions? Say my prediction for today is that I may meet today with an accident. I will believe that and not move out of the home at all. If my prediction says that i may get a windfall soon, I will stop all my work and begin buying Lottery tickets or waiting for a rich relative to die. But despite all the reading of the predictions, none of us acts like this. That proves that we do read the columns to feel good and give no value to them as far as real life is concerned. Some people may be exceptions to this, but this is true for a very large majority. The biggest fun of life is in unexpected happening. That continues.

The Basics of Western Astrology Explained

Introduction:

This article covers the basics of Astrology and how they are inter-related. Astrology is defined as 'the art or practice of determining the supposed influences of the planets and their motions on human affairs and human disposition'. From this practice a horoscope can be produced - a diagram (or chart) of the relative positions of planets and signs of the Zodiac at a specific time, usually the time of birth. A forecast can then be produced.

The Zodiac:

Western Astrology originated way back, around 500 BC, with a concept called the Zodiac being developed. This comprised of an imaginary sphere surrounding the earth, which followed the path of the Sun through the constellations during the year. The Zodiac was split into twelve sections, each named after the specific constellation noted in that area.

Elements:

Many ancient philosophies used a set of classical elements to explain the way nature behaved. Each sign was connected to one of the classical elements (fire, earth, air, or water) and was also related to a region of focus; social, personal or universal.

* Water signs are related to growth processes, identification and emotion. In tandem with the other elements, water feels that fire will make it boil, air will evaporate it, but earth will shape and channel it.

* Fire signs are related to action, passion, and energy. In tandem with the other elements, fire feels that earth will smother it, water will drown it, but air will fan and enliven it.

* Air signs are related to thought, perspective and communication. In tandem with the other elements, air feels that water will obscure it, earth will suffocate it, but fire will inspire and uplift it.

* Earth signs are related to sensation, stability, and practicality. In tandem with the other elements, earth feels that air will dry it, fire will dry it, but water will refresh and nourish it.

Modalities:

Each sign is connected to one of three modalities; cardinal (sometimes referred to as movable), fixed, and mutable.

There are four quadrants following the order of the zodiacal signs, with three signs in each. Each quadrant describes a season, beginning with a cardinal sign, continuing to a fixed sign, and ending with a mutable sign.

Modalities and Related Zodiac Signs:

* Mutable signs are related to adaptability, resourcefulness and holism. They are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces. * Fixed signs are related to determination, focus and individuality. They are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius. * Cardinal signs are related to creativity and initiation. They are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn.

Summary of Zodiac Sign Characteristics:

* Aries (cardinal, fire, personal): defensive, energetic, head down, assertive, impulsive. * Taurus (fixed, earth, personal): patient, indulgent, resourceful, thorough, devoted. * Gemini (mutable, air, personal): quick, logical, inquisitive. * Cancer (cardinal, water, personal): clinging, protective, sensitive. * Leo (fixed, fire, social): theatrical, generous, proud. * Virgo (mutable, earth, social): critically, practical, efficient. * Libra (cardinal, air, social): lazy, co-operative, fair. * Scorpio (fixed, water, social): anxious, passionate, sensitive. * Sagittarius (mutable, fire, universal): careless, free, straightforward. * Capricorn (cardinal, earth, universal): suspicious, prudent, cautious. * Aquarius (fixed, air, universal): detached, democratic, unconventional. * Pisces (mutable, water, universal): distracted, imaginative, sensitive.

Astrology Signs and Planets Reveal Who You Are

Even though astrology may not be a part of your world, there is solid proof that it can be a great resource for finding out who you are? Of course, if you are like most people, you may think of astrology as a fun game and should not be taken any more seriously than the contents of a fortune cookie. This article may surprise you.

People Are Beginning to Take a New Look at Astrology

The well-known astronomer/astrophysicist, Dr. Percy Seymour of Plymouth University, wrote in his book "The Scientific Basis of Astrology," that

"The resulting fluctuations of earth's field are picked up by the nervous system of the fetus, which acts like an antenna, and these synchronize the internal biological clocks of the fetus which control the moment of birth. The tuning of the fetal magnetic antenna is carried on by the genes which it inherits, and these to some extent will determine its basic genetically inherited personality characteristics. Thus the positions of the planets at birth are not altering what we have inherited genetically but are labeling our basic inherited personality characteristics."

If a renowned scientist is confirming what astrologers have been saying for thousands of years, it is time for us to take notice and take advantage of the marvelous resources that an astrological birth chart can reveal for you. No longer can we condemn astrology as superstition, because it has been proven that the zodiacal position of the planets and signs at the time we were born actually reveal who we really are. You can actually confirm this for yourself with a little investigation.

The astrological birth chart can reveal your life purpose, the lessons that you need to learn, your unique gifts, talents, relationships to other people, and your psycho-sexual profile.

Astrology can show your sexual likes and dislikes. These preferences are revealed by the position of your Venus and Mars at he time you were born. A skilled astrologer can describe these desires quite clearly and help you understand them. He can also help you understand your sexual relationship to another person. Can you imagine the value of having such information at your fingertips.

If you wish to determine whether or not you are sexually compatible with your partner or a possible mate, you would first need to locate the sign positions of Venus and Mars (e.g., my Venus is in Gemini and my Mars is in Aquarius) at the time and place of your birth. Then you would need to learn how these planets function in those signs and how they relate to the sexual energy of the other person.

What is Vedic Astrology?

Vedic Astrology is the study of positions of heavenly bodies like Sun, Moon, Mars etc. with respect to the zodiac and the interpretation of the effect of such heavenly bodies on the events in earth in the life of an individual or a country or the whole world. It is called Vedic Astrology, because the principles on which the study and interpretations are made were first enumerated in the 'Vedas' - the first treatise of ancient Hindu philosophy.

What is Zodiac?

What is Zodiac ? If we imagine a path in the sky at approximately 18 degrees arc in the width encircling the earth in an east west direction, groups of stars will appear to be apparently fixed with respect to earth along this imaginary path. There are 27 groups of stars in the path which are recognized by Vedic Astrology. These groups of stars in the imaginary path are called zodiac. This zodiac forms the reference for fixing up the position of any planet or star in the sky. Since this zodiac is encircling the earth it can be measured as 360 degrees, where these 27 groups of stars are evenly placed, hence each of them have a span of 360 degrees/27 = 13 degrees 20' arc.

What are Zodiac Signs or Rashis?

When the zodiac is divided into 12 equal parts each having a span of 30 degrees arc, then each of this arc is called a zodiac sign. A sign, therefore, will consist of 2 ? groups of stars. A particular group of stars called Ashwini, in the zodiac is considered the starting point of the zodiac and is called the star no.1. Similarly, there are individual name for the 26 group of stars. Ashwini(1), Bharini(2), Krittika(3) are the first three stars in the zodiac. As stated earlier, the first span of 30 degrees arc in the zodiac will consist of Ashwini, Bharini and ? of Krittika constitute the first zodiac sign called 'Aries'. The name of the remaining 11 zodiac signs after 'Aries' are : Taurus(2), Gemini(3), Cancer(4), Leo(5), Virgo(6), Libra(7), Scorpio(8), Sagittarius(9), Capricorn(10), Aquarius(11) and Pisces(12).

What are Heavenly Bodies?

Influencing the events on earth Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu, and Ketu all loosely termed as planets, appear to revolve around the earth continuously while always staying within the limits of zodiac. Vedic astrology in the ancient text had recognized these 9 entities. Out of which, the Sun is a star. Moon is the satellite of earth. Rahu and Ketu are two mathematical points on the zodiac and the rest are planets. Modern Vedic Astrologers also consider the effect of distant planets like Neptune, Uranus and Pluto.

What is an Ecliptic?

The apparent movement or path of the Sun along the zodiac is called the Ecliptic. The ecliptic passes through the center of zodiac and is inclined at an angle of 23 degrees and 28 minutes to the center of zodiac.

What are Rahu and Ketu?

Moon's apparent path around the earth intersects the ecliptic obliquely at two points called the 'Nodes'. The point where the Moon crosses the ecliptic from south to north is called the ascending node or 'Rahu' when it crosses the ecliptic from north to south is called the descending node or 'Ketu'. These 2 points are 6 zodiac signs or 180 degrees apart. The position of these two points with respect to zodiac signs are of equal importance to position of other planets with respect to zodiac sign in Vedic astrology.

What is Ascendant/Rising Sign?

The ecliptic passes through the center of the zodiacal belt which extends 9 degrees on its either(north or south) side. The planets remain within the limits of the zodiac. The earth rotates around its axis once in twenty four hours from west to east. As a consequence, all planets appear to revolve around the earth from east to west once in twenty four hours. The zodiac with its stars and signs fixed upon it also appears to revolve around the earth from east to west once in every 24 hours. Thus, all points on signs and stars on the zodiac will appear to successfully rise in the eastern horizon and set at the western horizon once in 24 hours. Thus, for every point and time on earth there will be a unique point on a particular zodiac sign which will be rising at the eastern horizon.

When an individual is born, the point in the particular zodiac sign, expressed in longitude, which is rising at the eastern horizon at the exact time of his/her birth for the exact latitude/longitude of the place where he/she is born is the unique space time coordinate for the individual. This is called the individual's Ascendant(Lagna) or the Rising Sign.

What is Janma Rashi/Moon Sign/Moon Ascendant?

In Vedic Astrology, the exact position of the Moon at the exact time of birth with respect to the zodiac sign and the point in the zodiac sign expressed in longitudes will be Janma Rashi/ Moon Sign/ Moon Ascendant.

What is Sun Sign/Sun Ascendant?

Like the Moon sign, the longitude of Sun with respect to zodiac at the exact time of birth is the Sun Sign of the individual. Western astrology lays great importance on Sun signs and ALL YOUR ZODIAC SIGNS are your Sun signs as per Vedic astrology. The Sun sign on the basis of Western astrology and Vedic Astrology, will differ by one sign many a times. This is because as per Western astrology the zodiac is also moving, whereas, the Vedic astrologers considers the zodiacs to be fixed. The reason why this difference comes will be explained on the web page at a later date. Meanwhile, we are just mentioning this so that you do not get alarmed to see the difference in the zodiac sun signs when computed by the Vedic astrology.

This will be an on going page which will be updated regularly. You are most welcome to contribute your views and your questions for the benefit of all visitors on our site. The utility and importance of Astrology in routine life

Introduction to Astrological Birth Chart and Reading

An astrological birth chart is the snap of zodiac at the time of your birth and comprises of nine planets and twelve houses. The placement of different planets in different houses in a n astrological birth chart is known as the planetary configurations of the said astrological birth chart. The promise of an individual's life is fixed by destiny in the form of the placement and strength of planets in a n astrological birth chart.

Astrology is the art of interpreting the influences of various planets on human beings with the help of astrological birth chart and reading of the birth chart . This is considered to be a Divine Science and it enables us to peep into the mysterious future. There are different systems used for the purpose of forecasting such as palm reading, transit, horary, varsh-phala, face reading, astrological birth chart reading etc. However, practically the most accurate one is the astrological birth chart reading since it is directly linked to the birth time of the person concerned.

One can avail the services of astrology in different forms as well as in different fields in routine life. Astrology and You

To most of us today, Astrology means the daily, weekly or monthly free horoscope predictions published in newspapers and magazines according to the Zodiac Sign under which we were born. So let's say you are an Aires since you were born between March 20th and April 21st of any given year. Does that mean that the same predictions that apply to you, can also apply to half a billion people in the world and that all people born under the Aries sign will have the same things apply to them?

Obviously not-so what is Astrology? And how does it affect you?

The term astrology is derived from the Greek words astron and logos, which literally means "stars" and "study". Legitimate astrology is founded on logical observation and deductive reasoning and is not superstition or magic. It is a body of knowledge or science that charts the positions of the planets at the exact time and place of a person's birth and determines the overall effect of celestial electromagnetic forces on a given individual's personality and behaviours throughout the course of his or her lifetime based on thousands of years of cumulative research. It is this study of planetary positioning at the time of a person's birth that allows astrologers to predict the future, for instance, an intensive study of a person's birth chart would allow an astrologer to predict horoscope love match by birthdate.

It is a proven fact that celestial bodies that make up our solar system affect life on Earth. The ocean tides are the result of the gravitational pull exerted by the Moon as it revolves round the Earth. In the same way human beings are electrochemical beings and are subtly and profoundly affected by any changes in the solar system's electromagnetic field. There are studies even by the philosopher Carl G. Jung on this subject.

Astrology is not a young science. In fact, astrology gave birth to the more modern science of astronomy, as astrologers were the first scientists to document the planet's motions with mathematical accuracy. The oldest written documents of astral observations were discovered in India and China and are over five thousand years old.

So why do modern-day, realistic world leaders, corporate CEO's, physicians, physicists as well ordinary working people consult personal astrologers about critical situations before acting or reacting? What is it that leads highly educated individuals around the world to turn to such an ancient science looking for guidance and to consult a horoscope at critical crossroads in life?

The term horoscope comes from the Greek word "horo" indicating "time" and "scop" meaning "to look at" and it literally means a birth diagram of the specific astronomical pattern in the heavens based on each individual's time and place of birth and this diagram is unique for each and every single person in the whole world.

This sky model of the map of the heavens and planetary positions is recorded from a distinct geographical position and this planet-earth-sky pattern is called a chart. Based on this chart, astrologers market significant features such as the following:

The exact astronomical position of the planets in the sky-by listing their location in a constellation, or Sign of the zodiac.

The location on the earth-by using latitude and longitude; these are called houses.

Which sign is on the horizon or that part of the sky east of the birth location at the time of the birth-this point is called the rising sign or ascendant.

An astrologer reviews this birth chart to find information about an individual's concern and events; they can make inferences regarding an individual's disposition and character and may foretell events in that person's life. Life patterns seen in the birth chart are matched by the astrologer against the patterns seen in historical rules and records of parallel astronomical information. For predictive purposes, a planetary almanac is used to track the location of planets from sign to sign and house to house to locate how these transits of planets will affect a person's life. We will cover each one of these subjects in greater depth in later articles.

The Different Schools of Astrology

While the information above is common and basic to astrology, there are also different schools of astrology that interpret this information in various ways. One is the Western principle of Astrology, the other the Indian or Vedic principles of Astrology. There are also the ancient Chinese, Arabian and Tibetan schools that we shall address in future articles.

Western Astrology emphasizes the relationship of the Sun to the earth and the seasons and is referred to as "tropical astrology". The position of the Sun at the time of birth plays a very important role in this principle, and hence the general advice columns or predictions published in newspapers and magazines.

Astrologically, the Sun is believed to affect how an individual manifests his or her personal form of self-expression. Coinciding with the philosophical and religious tenets of Western cultures, the concept of free will plays a very important role in this school of astrology.

As a result, interpretations of Western astrologers focus on expressions of the self and their consequences. It is presumed in this school of thinking that individuals are predisposed by planetary influences to certain patterns of behaviours, thought and emotion. As a result, Western Astrology predicts and analyzes behaviour based on birthdates.

Vedic or Indian Astrology, which is over 6,000 years old, is also an ancient behavioural analysis and forecasting system. However, it is a system that shows how behaviour might change over time. Karma or the law of cause and effect play an important role in this school of prediction.

It is believed a person is born in a specific time and place according to the record of one's karma or the results of their actions in past lives. In the birth chart of a person, there are events waiting in the storehouse of that person's destiny, which can be modified somewhat by actions performed in this life. An astrologer determines when a planet will cross a sensitive point in the birth chart, stimulating a specific event. These events are not necessarily predestined or even required to happen. However, they show a tendency to do so over time. The birth chart becomes a record of that person's karma. The astrologer's role is to match the patterns in the birth chart with the current patterns in the heavens and to analyze, synthesize and draw conclusions at hand based on ancient principles.

The accuracy of the birth chart reading is directly proportional to the experience and spiritual advancement of the astrologer, as well as to the recipient's desire and receptivity to have their birth chart read.

Vedic Astrology is considered to be a very accurate predictive form of astrology. It is the role of the astrologer to help their clients understand whether they are in a slump or a surge and what the astrological signatures indicate for them. It offers a map to guide people's lives and gives them an analytical time profile of their behaviours to help them understand what compels them to act. Its role is however, not to replace a person's responsibility to decide for them what is best, rather a tool to form their own decisions and take their own actions.

In conclusion, Kenneth Miller pointed out in a Life magazine article in July 1997:

"It turns out astrology is experiencing its biggest boom in four hundred years. According to a recent poll, just 20 percent of Americans are flat-out non-believers; 48 percent say astrology is probably or definitely valid."

Amazingly, even this interest and resurgence of interest in astrology in this new millennium is predicted in the stars. According to Western Astrology, in late 1995 the planet Pluto entered Sagittarius, commencing a 13-year period that will revive interest in spiritual, esoteric and religious subjects. In Chinese and Tibetan astrological tradition, the Year of the Rat in 1996 gave rise to a 12-year cycle that will be dominated by an overwhelming interest in philosophical studies.
